This Is Not A Sideshow
celebrating queer crip poetry
This is not the first time I’ve written about eff-able, the project I’m co-running with friend and fellow erotic poetry lover George Parker. And I’m sure it won’t be the last. But I want to celebrate it this week in particular. Publication day was this Monday (2nd June) which was a wonderful way to kick off Pride month. A chunky bag of books arrived the next day from our wonderful publisher fourteen poems. And, oh my, these books are so very sexy!
Look at them!

Diva Magazine published an article this week about the anthology and project, focusing on the need for representation of marginalised voices, a key objective of our project. You can read that here: https://diva-magazine.com/2025/06/02/we-are-not-a-sideshow-celebrating-queer-crip-poetry
And while George and I finalise some of the events we have coming up later in the year as part of our Arts Council funded mini UK tour This Is Not A Sideshow, we’re also gearing up for our live London Launch next Thursday!
I CANNOT WAIT for this! It’s going to be such a fun and fabulous night, a true celebration of the spirit of eff-able - sexy, accessible, inclusive, diverse, poetic and erotic. There are tickets still available, but snap them up now! There’s a special offer on over this weekend only - 15 tickets available at £15 for both book and event! Absolute bargain. You can grab one of these tickets, and check out details for the event here: www.outsavvy.com/event/26705/lese-majeste-xxiii-eff-able
The launch is a collaborative event with the majestically accessibly sexy Lèse Majesté, and features drag and cabaret performance alongside our gorgeous contributing poets. Fourteen Poems will be there also selling the anthology, so you can grab your copy then.
We’ve worked hard, with the fabulous support of Lèse Majesté and Friends of the Joiners Arms, to make this event as accessible as possible, so there will be BSL Interpretation, Live Captions, Audio Description as well as access workers available. It will also be LIVESTREAMED! So if you’re not in town, grab a cheap-as-chips watch from home ticket for only £2.
Thursday 12th June - Walthamstow Trades Hall.
It’s going to be big! (and I’m not talking about my Wonderbra piss-take below)

effably yours,
JP x
